Student Council

To improve the pupils’ activities, OGIS elected a Student Council consisting of 11 pupils, Prefects, Class Representatives and 4 members of the teaching staff. Pupils are thus encouraged to take an active part in the running of their school, together with their teachers. A Student Council is a representative structure for pupils through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with teachers, for the benefit of the school and its students.
The entire activity of the Student Council is led and coordinated by the Head Boy and Head Girl, elected from the Prefects. They are selected from the fourth grades only and represent the highest school positions.

The elected pupils were actively involved in the school projects, received very good academic results, proved to be good colleagues, had an outstanding conduct and proved they deserved this distinction and the recognition of the whole school.

The Head Boy and the Head Girl are responsible for representing the school at social events. They chair the Student Council meetings and represent the liaising body between the students and staff.

Scholarship
In recognition of the Head Boy’s and Head Girl’s contribution to the prestige of the school, OGIS offers a 500-Euro-scholarship each year.

The Prefects are third and fourth-grade pupils whose individual and collective purpose is to assist in the smoother operation of the school environment and to further promote the safety and security for all members of the growing community. Their main responsibilities are leading and facilitating Student Council meetings, communicating to the pupils from the prefects and administration, developing leadership around the school, and monitoring the different needs and concerns of the school.

The class representatives are first and second-grade pupils who deal with issues that are relevant to the junior classes and seek to improve a sense of community within the grade as well as within the school. Class Representatives serve as liaisons between the administration and the classes.
